About the Company
Meru is a dollar account app for individuals and businesses, aimed at freelancers and remote workers in Latin America who get paid from abroad. Users receive a US account and routing number plus a European IBAN, and can accept ACH, wire and SEPA transfers as well as payouts from Upwork, Stripe, PayPal, YouTube and Gusto.
Balances can be spent through a physical or virtual Visa card issued in the USA, and withdrawn as local-currency cash in more than 200 countries and territories via MoneyGram. Deposits arrive by bank transfer, PIX, cash or crypto. A self-custodial crypto feature offers access to over 2,000 tokens, alongside DeFi investment options. The site says transactions carry no extra commission, and accounts can be opened from a phone with a national ID.
