BitBox is a line of hardware crypto wallets made by Shift Crypto, a privately held company based in Zurich, Switzerland. The BitBox02, released in 2019 as the successor to the original 2015 BitBox, stores private keys offline and is managed through the BitBoxApp on desktop and Android.
The device pairs a secure chip with fully open-source firmware and is sold in two versions. The Multi Edition handles Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and ERC-20 tokens, while the Bitcoin-only edition keeps a smaller attack surface. Recovery uses an encrypted backup on a microSD card, and the wallet can also work as a FIDO U2F second factor. Advanced users can connect it to their own Bitcoin node, use coin control and route traffic through Tor.
