The Defiant

The Defiant is an independent crypto and DeFi news publication operated by Defiant Media Inc., a Delaware corporation based in Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 2019 by former Bloomberg journalist Camila Russo, it publishes primary-source reporting on DeFi, blockchains, markets and regulation, plus newsletters, a podcast, video and education content.

Russo is also the author of The Infinite Machine (2020), described on the site as the first history of Ethereum. The publication says its reporting relies on primary sources and interviews, with sources linked and quotes attributed. An automated news desk drafts short breaking-news briefs, which a human editor verifies and reviews before publication. Sponsored content and press releases are labeled and kept separate from the newsroom, and corrections are noted within the story.
