About the Company
The Yard Creative is a London design agency that describes itself as an evidential design agency, driven by insight and creativity. It works on brand and experience design for lifestyle, culture and place-making clients, with studios at Leather Market in Southwark and on Baker Street in Marylebone.
The agency starts from research: ethnographic customer studies, market research, trend analysis, financial studies and stakeholder workshops. Its process runs in three phases. Question gathers customer insight and market evidence. Push develops the big idea, brand positioning, strategic roadmaps and experience maps. Change covers concept design, design development, technical design and support after launch.
- Design strategy: brand strategy, retail and F&B format strategy, place strategy, naming, consumer profiling and experience mapping
- Branding and visual identity: identity systems, guidelines, packaging, UX/UI, motion and copywriting
- Signage and wayfinding: graphics for retail and public environments
- Interior design: retail, F&B, flagship, pop-up and kiosk spaces
- Technical design and rollout: including franchisee design packs
Clients include brands, landlords and investors, and entrepreneurs and SMEs. Projects named on the site include Central Saint Giles, Christy x Wimbledon, Bread Ahead, Wild Fox, a BETA store concept for John Lewis, Sushidog, mediasense and Gecko Coffee House, plus a bottle shop design for Models Own at Westfield White City in 2012.
The agency reports that it began in 2007 with retail space design and that it has a team of 12, according to its FAQ. It states it was acquired in 2019 by RSBG UK, the investment arm of RAG-Stiftung. The site lists roughly 27 awards between 2011 and 2024, among them the Transform Europe Awards 2024 for best strategic or creative development of a new brand and an FAB Awards Interior Design Silver in 2022 for Gecko Coffee House. It also says most of its profits go toward fighting pollution and climate change.
